100 Degrees of Frost Award

Presented to Scouts and Scouters who accumulate 100 or more below-freezing points in a season, between October 1st and May 30th.

How It Works:

  • Participants earn one point for each degree below freezing (32°F) recorded during an overnight campout.
  • A camping night must be at least eight hours and each night camped counts toward your point total, meaning if you camp 2 nights you would get points for both nights.
  • Make-up nights and backyard camping are permitted for those who miss outings due to illness or other valid reasons.
  • Points cannot be carried over to the next season.

Recognition:

  • Scouts who complete the challenge can earn a 100 Degrees of Frost Award patch.
  • Unit leaders are responsible for certifying eligible campers.
  • The award can be earned multiple times.

Community Civic Service Award (LPC)

The following award was part of the Longs Peak Council. We will continue to sell these awards while we have inventory. For Scouts BSA and Venturer’s. This award also fosters appreciation for the many benefits that come from our American way of life. Service should be performed while wearing an official Scout uniform whenever practical, to identify it as Scout service.

Award Requirements:

  • Complete 60 hours for additional numeral.
  • Complete 75 hours for 2nd additional numeral.

Nova & SuperNova Awards

National has sunset this program and our council no longer supports it. The forms and information on these awards can still be found online and your unit can complete the program. No district or council approvals or counselors are needed and unit leadership can organize, run, and sign-off on the program. While we do not have the recognition items for the programs, they can be purchased for other councils that are still supporting the program.
