Wood Badge

You're invited to attend Wood Badge!

Wood Badge is more than just a course; it’s a transformative experience. Named in honor of the original Wood Badge training given by Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, this advanced training is designed to equip leaders with the skills, knowledge, and inspiration they need to guide and mentor the next generation of Scouts. It’s a journey that goes beyond the basics of Scouting; it’s about embracing the values and ideals that make the program so impactful.

The Wood Badge experience is unique because it focuses on leadership, teamwork, and personal growth. Participants engage in a variety of activities that challenge them to think critically, work collaboratively, and lead effectively. Through role-playing, practical exercises, and reflection, Wood Badge graduates learn how to apply Scouting principles in their own units and communities. They come away not just with new skills, but with a renewed passion for the Scouting movement and its mission.

Any Scouter who has attended basic training for their registered position and serves in a leadership role in Scouting or in a position that directly supports a unit can attend. Crew/Ship members 18+ are also eligible to attend.

It is recommended that participants have had at least one year of camping experience. While Wood Badge is not an outdoor skills course, portions of the course take place outdoors and it is important that each participant have basic camping and outdoor cooking experience.
